The wi-fi industry is about to get a majour technology upgrade
Wi-fi Direct allows wi-fi enabled devices to connect to each other in a type of “ad hoc” system without actually connecting to a traditional network. This system was introduced by The Wi-Fi Alliance (Intel, Apple and Cisco) and they agreed to introduce this technology by mid 2010.
This technology potentially poses a threat to Bluetooth.
