The Internet and social networks aid Haiti
Social networks along with many other internet services and websites are all in cooperation to help Haiti in its time of crisis.
As the earthquake occurred, data and voice communication to and from Haiti has been on a constant raise. To compensate for this boom in telecommunication, satellite networks have been configured to allow for more data communication in and out of Haiti. Twitter has become the main social networking site for communication whilst the Facebook and Google have produced a “missing person’s list”.
Google have taken steps by developing a crisis response webpage where support and disaster relief can be given to the needy country.
A Facebook group called “Earthquake Haiti” has also been created to provide even more aid to Haiti.
On Twitter, floods of tweets from groups tagged “#rescumehaiti”  and “#relativesinhaiti”  have risen to aid in rescue and the finding of loved ones.
